Former Fisheries Minister and member of parliament for Ewutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has announced her intention to take legal action against individuals and groups perpetuating claims that she was involved in a fatal incident during the 2024 elections in Kasoa.
In an interview with Eyga Kwabena on UTV’s Midday News, the former Fisheries Minister expressed deep frustration over what she described as a politically motivated and false allegation that continues to tarnish her image
“They claim I killed someone during last year’s election at Kasoa, but the NDC has been in power for six months and they still haven’t taken any legal action,” she stated. “If they can’t take me to court, I am taking them to court myself.”
According to her, the continuous silence and lack of prosecution from the relevant state authorities is a clear indication that the claims are baseless.
“I have stayed quiet on this matter for far too long, and it is becoming the truth or narrative that people believe in,” she lamented. “Why would I use pepper spray without any provocation?”
Hon. Koomson emphasized that her legal team is already working on the case to clear her name and hold those spreading the allegations accountable.
This development comes on the heels of heightened tensions surrounding the Ablekuma North rerun on Friday 13th July where Hon. Hawa Koomson was a victim of assault by thugs at the St. Peter’s Society Methodist Church polling station in Odorkor.
