Residents of communities linked by the Obom-Odunkwa Bridge in the Obom-Domeabra Constituency are facing severe transportation difficulties after heavy rains submerged the structure.
The flooding has made the bridge impassable to vehicles, leaving many commuters stranded and disrupting movement between nearby communities.
Residents say some individuals have taken advantage of the situation by charging between GH¢50 and GH¢100 to help people cross the flooded section, a development that has sparked frustration among affected commuters.
According to community members, the bridge has suffered recurring flooding for years, with little progress despite repeated appeals to authorities for a lasting solution.
Secretary of the local Landlords Association, Peter Mensah, warned that the deteriorating condition of the bridge poses a serious danger to residents and motorists, especially during the rainy season.
He called for urgent intervention to repair or reconstruct the bridge, stressing that continued neglect could lead to more severe consequences.
The Obom-Odunkwa Bridge remains a vital transport route for several communities in the Ga South Municipality, making its current condition a major concern for residents, businesses and daily commuters.
