The Ministry of Transport has started work to expand Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA). This is part of a plan to reduce crowding at Terminal 3 and help the airport work better.
The Ministry says that Terminal 2 will now serve both local and international flights. This change will happen in two steps.
This move was announced by both the Ministry and the airport’s management. They say it will help reduce the high number of people using Terminal 3, which has become too busy in recent years.
During a visit to the airport, Transport Minister, Joseph Nikpe Bukari spoke about the project. He said it is part of a bigger plan to help the airport handle more passengers and goods.
“If you come to Terminal 3 during busy hours, you will see how crowded it is,” he said. “We have divided Terminal 2 into two parts: one for local flights, and the other, where we are standing now, for international flights.”
“This way, we can move some traffic from Terminal 3 to Terminal 2. It will make Terminal 3 less crowded and more comfortable for travelers,” he added.
The Ministry says the new Terminal 2 will make travel easier for passengers and help the airport run more smoothly.
