The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) South Africa branch, Benjamin Kofi Quashie has revealed that processes to apprehend the Member of Parliament for Asin South and Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defense and Interior Committee, Rev Ntim Fordjour are nearing completion.
He made this announcement during an appearance on JoyPrime’s News Flash on Monday, April 7, following serious allegations made by the MP regarding aircrafts that allegedly landed in Ghana for cocaine trafficking and money laundering operations.
“I can confidently say that the processes (to arrest him) are almost complete,” he stated.
Quashie pointed out that Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, who is crucial to the proceedings, is currently “out of the country.” However, he expressed optimism that once Bagbin returns, the MP shall be taken into custody.
Rev Ntim Fordjour has made claims that certain aircrafts that arrived in the country recently were involved in money laundering and illegal drug trafficking activities. His statements, delivered at a press conference, have stirred significant attention, particularly among political figures, prompting many to scrutinize the truthfulness of his assertions.
In response to Fordjour’s allegations, the government has firmly denied any wrongdoing, clarifying the reasons behind the aircraft’s landing and subsequent departure from Ghana.
Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Sunday April 6, 2025, clarified in a Facebook post that one of the aircrafts (Air Med) made an unscheduled stop at the Kotoka International Airport due to technical problems and further explained that the second aircraft’s cargo was vetted by authorities and confirmed that there was no illicit cargo onboard.
As a result, there is mounting pressure on the MP to substantiate his claims with solid evidence.
“In other jurisdictions, he would have been blacklisted…If he doesn’t honour the invitation [by National Security] to him and he thinks that he can hide behind his parliamentary privileges, he lie bad. Because he will be arrested. Some of us will insist that he is arrested and you must substantiate that”, said NDC’s National Communications Director, Sammy Gyamfi during an appearance on Joy News’ Newsfile on Saturday April 5.
