The Kwadaso Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region has sentenced a 21-year-old loading boy to 18 months in prison for stealing six boxes of chicken meat at the Adehyeman Market in Kumasi.
The convict, Kwabena Manu, pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and was convicted on his own plea.
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Jephthah Appau that the complainant, Gifty Zaan, a trader based in Afrancho, engaged Manu on September 8, 2025, to assist in transporting her six boxes of chicken valued at GH¢2,100.
Manu collected four boxes under the pretense of delivering them to the Afrancho Trotro Station. When the complainant attempted to follow with the remaining boxes, the convict disappeared with the consignment.
Later that day, the complainant confronted Manu, but he failed to account for the missing boxes. He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the Suame police.
Following investigations, he was charged and brought before the court, where he received an 18-month custodial sentence.
