The Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that the government will reinstate public sector workers whose appointments were revoked after December 7, 2024, if investigations confirm that due process was followed in their recruitment.
Kwakye Ofosu disclosed that a revocation committee, operating under the Office of the Chief of Staff, is reviewing all affected cases.
He explained that dismissals will stand where irregularities are found, but workers properly recruited will be restored to post.
Speaking on Top Story on Tuesday, September 16, he said “the committee is perusing all the cases on their merits. Where it is found that due process was not followed, the dismissals will stand. But where due process is established, those people will be reinstated,” he said.
He accused the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of rushing appointments into the civil service during the transition period without adhering to established recruitment procedures. According to him, this prompted corrective action by the John Mahama-led government.
“The issue is not about NPP affiliation. The fact is that laid-down processes were bypassed. They had eight years to employ, yet after losing the election, they railroaded people into the service within a month,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.
He stressed that the government has no objection to employment opportunities but insisted on fairness and compliance with established rules.
On the economy, the minister said there has been general satisfaction with the government’s performance, pointing to improvements since the NDC administration assumed office in January.
He, however, acknowledged that challenges remain, particularly in the fight against illegal mining.
