Popular Nigerian musician Afeez Adeshina, professionally known as Destiny Boy, has died at 22. Speculation about his death began circulating on social media on Sunday, January 18, 2026, after videos of his lifeless body went viral. Journalist Temilola Sobola and singer Ruger later confirmed the news online.
The circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s death remain unclear. Some social media accounts claim he repeatedly vomited blood before dying at the residence of an herbalist, while others suggest he became seriously ill in the early hours of January 18. None of these reports has been officially verified, and the singer’s family has yet to release a statement.
In an emotional post on X, fellow musician Ruger questioned the lack of clarity around Destiny Boy’s death:
“Bruh, people will just post that someone has died, and everyone will move on. What caused his death? Who was he with? What was the boy eating or drinking? No autopsy, nothing! We just have to accept that he’s dead. My God, RIP Destiny Boy.”
Reports indicate that Destiny Boy’s body was taken to Abeokuta in Ogun State for burial shortly after his passing.
