The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Michael Drew, arrived in Accra on Tuesday for a four-day official visit to Ghana, the Presidency Communications has announced.
According to a statement from the Presidency on March 3, the visit is expected to last between Tuesday, 3rd March and Saturday, 7th March, with a planned “special appearance” at the 69th Independence Day Celebration on Friday March 6.
The statement noted that Dr. Drew and his delegation will start their formal schedule on Wednesday with a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, before proceeding to the Presidency for bilateral discussions and an official luncheon.
The discussions are expected to deepen an “already-growing partnership” between the two countries, with the statement explaining that Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis “have been actively strengthening bilateral relations through South-South cooperation, with a focus on exchange programmes in education, health, trade, investment, and technology.”
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture in Accra, the former home and final resting place of the “pioneering African-American intellectual and civil rights giant,” who renounced his U.S. citizenship and died in Ghana in 1963.
Dr. Drew will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum and the Cape Coast Castle, before paying a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area in Cape Coast, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II.
