The U.S. Embassy in Ghana has disclosed that it will open more than 2,000 extra visa appointment slots within the next two weeks for B1/B2 applicants.
In a post shared on X on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the embassy explained that the additional slots are meant for travelers intending to undertake business trips, visit relatives, tour the United States, or attend the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
This follows an earlier release of over 1,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots, which enabled many applicants to secure earlier interview dates.
Individuals with interview appointments later in the year have been advised to reschedule to earlier dates to benefit from the expanded availability. Prospective applicants are encouraged to check the embassy’s visa webpage for further information and to book appointments.
The decision comes in response to rising demand for U.S. visas, driven by travelers seeking opportunities for business, leisure, and participation in major global sporting events.
