Baba Jamal, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, has formally stepped down from his duties at Ghana’s High Commission in Nigeria.
He resigned from his position at the High Commission to contest the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat following the passing of the former MP, Mahama Naser Toure, who died after a brief illness. Jamal won the election and has since been sworn in as the constituency’s MP.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, he confirmed that he has completed the handover to the Deputy Head of Mission. He expressed gratitude for his time at the High Commission, saying he was “deeply grateful to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve” and honoured to have worked with the team there.
Looking ahead, Jamal expressed excitement about his new role in Parliament and appreciation for his supporters, adding, “I wish my successor every success and sincerely thank you for your support and prayers as I begin my role as Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East.”
