The National Chief Imam of Ghana, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called on Muslims to mark Eid al-Fitr with decency, modesty, and respect for the law.
In a message to the Muslim community, he extended congratulations on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid.
He noted that fasting is intended to instill piety, as outlined in the Quran, and emphasized that this spiritual growth should be evident in the behaviour of Muslims.
“His Eminence the National Chief Imam, Shaikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, congratulates the Muslim fraternity on the successful end of fasting in the Holy Month of Ramadan and the observation of Eid Al-Fitr. He, however, advised the Ummah to celebrate the Eid within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality,” the statement said.
According to him, the true benefit of the spiritual purification achieved during Ramadan lies in translating it into positive conduct that aligns with societal values and national laws.
He described Eid al-Fitr not just as a festive occasion, but also as a time for reflection, encouraging Muslims to uphold principles that contribute to the well-being of society.
The Chief Imam further urged Ghanaians to embrace patriotism, compassion, and a shared sense of responsibility in efforts to strengthen unity in diversity and promote interfaith harmony.
He concluded by offering prayers for global justice, peace in the Middle East, stability across Africa, and continued prosperity for Ghana.
