The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has boosted healthcare delivery at the Brenase Polyclinic with the donation of key medical equipment aimed at improving the facility’s capacity to perform advanced surgical procedures.
During his visit to the polyclinic, he held discussions with health professionals to assess their operational challenges and identify areas needing support. He said the engagement formed part of his broader agenda to strengthen healthcare services in the constituency.
“I spent time listening to the dedicated staff at Brenase Polyclinic,” he said, praising the dedication of health workers who continue to serve the community under difficult conditions.
The Brenase Polyclinic, the only facility of its kind in the area, plays a central role in providing healthcare services to residents. It was initially a health centre before being upgraded by the MP to expand its scope of services while plans for a district hospital remain underway.
“It used to be a health centre, and I upgraded it pending the construction of a district hospital,” he stated.
As part of the latest intervention, theatre equipment was supplied to enable the facility to carry out more complex surgeries locally, reducing the need for patients to be referred to distant hospitals.
“Theatre equipment [has been provided] mostly to enable elaborate surgeries to take place,” he explained.
The upgrade is expected to ease pressure on larger hospitals, cut down patient referrals, and improve emergency response care within the district.
Medical staff at the facility have previously highlighted the lack of adequate surgical tools as a major challenge affecting service delivery, often forcing patients to seek care far away.
The intervention is part of ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure in underserved communities across the constituency, ensuring residents have better access to quality medical services.
Oppong Nkrumah emphasised that the goal is to bring healthcare closer to the people while long-term infrastructure plans are being developed.
He also expressed hope that the equipment would enhance service delivery, adding, “May the Holy Spirit take control and assist the medical team to provide quality healthcare with this equipment.”
The support forms part of a transitional strategy to strengthen healthcare access in the area as work toward a fully equipped district hospital continues.
