Ghanaian visual artist Ibrahim Mahama has made it clear that his focus on the alleged police assault isn’t about money, it’s about justice.
After meeting with the Police Management Board (POMAB) on Thursday, March 26, 2026, as part of the investigation into claims involving the IGP Special Task Force and the “Black Maria,” Mahama told reporters that he wants the incident fully understood and those responsible held accountable.
“No, we are not looking for compensation. I don’t need that. It’s about justice,” he said, emphasizing that transparency and accountability are his primary concerns.
He added, “We want people to understand what happened that day. We are in a democracy, and it’s important to know what’s happening and how it can be addressed.”
Mahama also highlighted the broader significance of his stance: pursuing justice helps reinforce public trust in national institutions. “When similar things happen to others, they should be confident that their concerns will be taken seriously and justice will be served,” he explained.
