Ghanaian midfielder Seedorf Asante has secured a move to Ivorian club Yamoussoukro FC as the newly promoted side continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming league season.
The club confirmed the signing on Wednesday, although Asante had already been training with the team for several weeks as preparations intensified for their first campaign in Côte d’Ivoire’s top division.
The former Heart of Lions player has already featured for Yamoussoukro FC during pre-season activities, including an international friendly against French side Olympique de Marseille earlier this month.
Asante’s arrival forms part of the club’s recruitment drive aimed at adding experience and quality to a squad seeking to establish itself in the Ivorian top flight. The club has increasingly looked beyond its borders in the transfer market as it builds a team capable of competing at the highest level.
The midfielder joins Yamoussoukro FC after spells with Ghana Premier League side Heart of Lions and former top-flight club Liberty Professionals.
A graduate of Liberty Professionals’ renowned football development system, Asante is expected to bring midfield stability and experience to a Yamoussoukro side hoping to make an immediate impact in its maiden season among Côte d’Ivoire’s elite clubs.
His signing adds another Ghanaian presence to the Ivorian league as clubs across West Africa continue to tap into talent from the region.
