Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has paid a solemn visit to the residence of the late Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, joining family, friends, and colleagues in mourning the loss of the respected Member of Parliament.
Accompanied by key figures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Bawumia signed the condolence book and extended his sympathies to the bereaved family.
The former Vice President’s visit was a show of unity and respect across political lines, as he offered words of comfort and support to the grieving family during this difficult time.
He praised the late MP for his contributions to national discourse and public service, describing him as “a passionate patriot who served his country with conviction.”
Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and seven other persons died in the helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The helicopter was transporting Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; as well as Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate, and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.
The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
