Government has announced that more than GHS 2.3 million has so far been raised into the Children’s Support Fund set up to secure the welfare of the children of the victims of the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash.
According to a public notice issued by the President on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, and signed by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, the total accrued amount stands at GHS 2,315,000.00.
The Fund, established by President John Dramani Mahama and officially launched during the State Funeral held on August 15, 2025, is aimed at providing long-term financial support for the dependents of the eight service personnel who tragically lost their lives in the crash.
The statement expressed government’s gratitude to Stanbic Bank Ghana for providing the initial seed donation of GHS 500,000. Other notable contributors include:

- Sunda FM Manufacturing Ltd
- Sage Distribution Ltd
- Quantum Oil Terminals
- Quantum LPG Logistics Ltd
- Newgas Cylinder Ltd
- Quantum Terminals PLC
The Fund will continue to receive donations through dedicated Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited accounts at the Stanbic Heights Branch in Accra. Contributions can be made via the following accounts:

Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to: Children Support Fund 6825.
The public notice further indicated that a list of donors will be published weekly as part of efforts to ensure transparency.
Government has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the future of the children left behind by the fallen heroes, describing the initiative as both a duty of care and a gesture of national solidarity.
