The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has shared his childhood dream profession, disclosing that he had always wanted to become a Disc Jockey (DJ).
In his opinion, his career taking a different path from his childhood dream is one of the ‘mysterious ways’ through which God does His things.
During a one on one with Channel 1 TV’s Umaru Sanda on Tuesday, Julius Neequaye revealed that although he studied social sciences but never went to school for formal training in journalism, his childhood dream had always been to work as a DJ for a media organization.
“I studied social sciences but growing up I have always wanted to become a DJ…I used to play music for Radio Gold with my brother…but you know God does things in mysterious ways,” he said.
When asked why he did not choose a career in media after his tertiary education, the DVLA CEO explained “in all my schooling I didn’t even go to any school of journalism…from St. Acquinas to University of Ghana, then from there to UCC for my Masters, I did another Master at UCC and then came back to GIMPA for another Masters.”
On January 29, 2025, the Ministry of Transport announced the appointment of Julius Neequaye Kotey as the new Acting Chief Executive Officer of DVLA, after his years of service as the Deputy CEO of the Authority.
After taking over as CEO of the Authority, Julius Neequaye has launched sweeping reforms at DVLA, including his new Lorry Terminal Project, an initiative that will allow drivers to access key licensing services directly from lorry terminals across the country without having to visit traditional DVLA offices.
