Expect more musicians to be arrested by EOCO

Ghanaian musician and media personality Blakk Rasta has claimed that Shatta Wale’s recent run-in with the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) marks only the start of a broader clampdown on artistes allegedly tied to criminal activities.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Blakk Rasta alleged that several other Ghanaian musicians could soon be investigated for offences such as car theft, the purchase of stolen vehicles, and other illicit dealings. He argued that certain figures within the music industry have damaged the profession’s reputation by engaging in activities that stray far from their craft.

“This is not the end of artistes involved in criminal activities including car theft, buying stolen cars, and other shady practices. There are more artistes in Ghana who will soon be exposed. Shatta is not the only one. I feel like mentioning names, but I won’t. Some people’s modus operandi shows they don’t even deserve to be called artistes,” Blakk Rasta stated.

His remarks follow Shatta Wale’s arrest by EOCO over his 2019 Lamborghini Urus, which is suspected to be linked to fraudulent proceeds. The Dancehall star spent nearly 24 hours in EOCO custody before being granted bail.

Initially set at GH₵10 million with two sureties, his bail was later reduced to GH₵5 million, paving the way for his release. His media manager, Sammy Flex, confirmed the development, saying: “The good news is that he has been granted bail and has been released to go home. The bail condition was reviewed from GH¢10 million to GH¢5 million with two sureties, and that is what we are all happy about.”

Blakk Rasta, however, maintained that Shatta Wale’s case is only the beginning, warning that more names from Ghana’s entertainment scene may soon surface as EOCO’s investigations continue.
