Ghana head coach Otto Addo has admitted his disappointment with the Black Stars’ performance in their 1-1 draw with Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The result denied Ghana the chance to extend their lead at the top of Group I, as Jordan Ayew’s early strike was cancelled out by Chad’s Ecua Celestin. The draw also marked Chad’s first point of the campaign after six straight defeats.
Speaking after the game, Coah Otto Addo expressed concern over his side’s inability to make their dominance count, myjoyonline reports.
“At the end, I can’t say we played excellent, or we played well, because the result is everything,” he said.
“If we had scored two or three goals, we would be having a different conversation. But respect to Chad for their good defending.
“We had many corners, many shots, and a lot of possession, but we didn’t take our chances.
“This is surely not good enough, and we have to improve, especially in our execution.”
Despite the setback, Ghana remain top of Group I with 16 points after seven matches — three ahead of Madagascar and four clear of Mali.
The Black Stars will now shift focus to their next crucial fixture against Mali on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
