The New Patriotic Party (NPP) through its General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, has filed a petition with its National Disciplinary Committee concerning the party’s Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye, AKA Abronye DC, citing alleged misconduct that threatens the party’s reputation and unity.
According to the party, Abronye DC faces several serious accusations, including making defamatory statements about some prominent party members and spreading false claims that could harm the party’s image.
The petition, filed on September 30, noted that the Bono Regional Chairman reportedly insulted former Assin Central MP and NPP presidential hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, stating that even the party’s elephant symbol has more wisdom than the flagbearer aspirant, statements the NPP describes as not only derogatory but also damaging to Kennedy Agyapong’s standing within the party.
The Bono Regional Chairman is also accused of alleging that the General Secretary of the party intentionally withheld a report that supposedly depicted Kennedy Agyapong as harmful to the party and suggested his expulsion. The party strongly denied these claims, describing them as false, malicious, and undermining the integrity of the General Secretary’s office.
The petition also raised concerns regarding Abronye’s alleged breach of confidentiality by misrepresenting findings from a disciplinary committee report, an action the party views as a direct challenge to the authority of established party structures.
In light of these allegations, the party has requested a comprehensive and impartial investigation into Abronye’s conduct by the National Disciplinary Committee, calling for appropriate sanctions in accordance with the party’s constitution.
