The Ministry of the Interior, working together with the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President, has announced a temporary suspension of the Ghanaian citizenship application process for historical diasporans.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 1, the two institutions said the decision is part of a joint initiative to review, streamline, and improve the application system to make it more efficient, accessible, and user-friendly. They explained that the suspension will allow for necessary adjustments to ensure a smoother and more seamless process when applications reopen.
The Ministry of the Interior and the Diaspora Affairs Office of the President reaffirmed their commitment to welcoming members of the global African family back to Ghana. They added that revised timelines and updated guidelines will be communicated through official channels in due course.
