The 2024 New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, widely known as NAPO, has expressed confidence in what he described as the party’s renewed unity following the announcement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
In a congratulatory message shared on social media on Sunday, Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted the “renewed sense of purpose” within the party, emphasizing that party faithfuls are now united by a shared vision of rebuilding and returning the party to power in 2028.
“The atmosphere was electrifying and reflected a sense of unity, purpose, and togetherness within the party,” the post read. “It was a clear signal that the call for unity has been heeded, and that party faithfuls are ready and committed to rebuilding and returning the New Patriotic Party to power in 2028.”
NAPO further noted that the show of solidarity at the party’s headquarters during Dr. Bawumia’s official confirmation, is an indication that “the usual internal divisions that often follow competitive primaries had given way to collective resolve and readiness to campaign as one front.”
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh stressed the importance of capitalizing on the momentum gained from the presidential primary, urging that the immediate focus should be on reinforcing internal unity and preparing for “the challenges of the 2028 elections.”
