President John Dramani Mahama has named Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu as Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
His nomination comes after the recall of Baba Jamal, who opted to run in the Ayawaso East by-election following the passing of the area’s Member of Parliament, Nasser Mahama Toure.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the decision in a statement shared on Sunday, March 1.
Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, who contested the Okaikwei Central seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the 2024 general election, is expected to promote Ghana’s interests in Nigeria and deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
