The total value of mobile money transactions reached a record GHC447.4 billion in February 2026, according to the latest Bank of Ghana’s Summary of Economic and Financial Data covering February 2025 to February 2026.
This represents a 41.5% year-on-year growth from the GHC316.2 billion recorded in February 2025.
The report also highlighted a 0.2% month-on-month growth in the first two months of 2026, with the total value of transactions recorded in January rising from GHC446.2 billion to GHC447.4 billion in February.
In 2025, monthly transaction values climbed consistently. Starting at GHC316.2 billion in February 2025, transaction values went up steadily through the year, peaking at GHC518.4 billion in December 2025 before falling by 13.9% in January 2026 to GHC446.2 billion, and 13.6% in February 2026.
The total volume of mobile money transactions also rose by 28.8% year-on-year in February 2026, reaching 899 million transactions, up from the 698 million recorded in February 2025.
Registered accounts grew by 10.4% year-on-year, rising from 74.1 million in February 2025 to 81.8 million in February 2026, while active accounts (wallets that recorded at least one transaction within the reporting period) recorded a 12.3% growth, climbing from 23.6 million to 26.5 million over the same period.
The total number of registered mobile money agents also went up by 8.9% year-on-year, from 896,000 in February 2025 to 976,000 in February 2026, while the number of active agents rose from 411,000 to 515,000 over the same period, representing a 25.3% growth.
The balance on float (the total value of money held in mobile money wallets) also rose by 21.5% year-on-year, from GHC 27.9 billion in February 2025 to GHC 33.9 billion in February 2026.
Regarding mobile money interoperability, GHC59 billion was transferred across platforms between February 2025 and February 2026.
