Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service in the Volta Region responded to two separate emergency situations on Wednesday, May 13, successfully rescuing accident victims and controlling a domestic fire outbreak.
The Peki Fire Station first attended to a road traffic collision on the Peki–Asikuma Road involving a SINO tipper truck. Firefighters arrived swiftly at the scene and rescued two male victims as part of their emergency response operations.

Later the same day, the team was called to Asikuma Zongo, where a three-bedroom thatch-roofed house had been completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control and extinguish it before it could spread to nearby buildings, preventing further damage within the community.

In a statement released by the Public Relations Office of the Volta Regional Command on Thursday, May 14, the Service said the prompt intervention of firefighters helped save lives and protect surrounding properties from significant destruction.
The statement noted, “Firefighters managed to confine and extinguish the blaze in time, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.”
The Ghana National Fire Service also urged the public to promptly report emergencies and remain alert to enable faster response from rescue teams.
It emphasized that early reporting of incidents is crucial in protecting lives and property.
