At least three people have been killed after a vehicle crashed into an elephant inside a national park in Uganda, according to authorities.
Police said four others sustained injuries in the accident, which occurred on Sunday evening in Murchison Falls National Park in the northwestern part of the country.
The vehicle involved was reportedly carrying seven officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority.
Road accidents are frequent in Uganda, while encounters between humans and wildlife have also increased as growing communities continue to expand into protected conservation areas.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the vehicle was travelling from Arua to Kampala when the collision happened.
The injured victims were first taken to a nearby hospital before being transferred to Kampala for further medical treatment.
Officials did not disclose the condition of the elephant following the incident.
Meanwhile, the Uganda Wildlife Authority has advised motorists driving through protected areas to exercise caution because wild animals frequently cross roads within the parks.
