Since its establishment in 1948, the University of Ghana has played a central role in shaping significant life experiences for many of its students and graduates. It has served as the place where lasting friendships were built, marriages began, business ideas were developed, partnerships formed, entrepreneurs nurtured, and personal identities discovered.
For many alumni, the university became a second home that fostered pride and a strong sense of belonging. However, as graduates move on into different careers, countries, and stages of life, many gradually lose contact with the institution and with one another.
To address this challenge, the university will on 28 May 2026 officially launch the University of Ghana Global Alumni Network (UGA Network) App, a digital platform aimed at strengthening lifelong connections between the university and its global alumni community.
The launch, which will take place at the University of Ghana, represents a major shift in alumni engagement—from scattered informal groups to a unified, official digital platform for all graduates.
Previously, alumni interaction has largely taken place through WhatsApp groups, social media pages, and independent associations. While these platforms have kept communication active, they have also led to fragmentation, making it difficult to maintain accurate records, share official updates, and coordinate mentorship, networking, and institutional support.
The UGA Network App was created to solve this problem by providing a secure and centralised system where alumni can register, verify their status, update personal details, reconnect with classmates and year groups, and receive official university updates.
At its core, the platform is built on the idea that alumni should always remain connected to the university they helped build, regardless of distance or time.
Designed with user experience in mind, the app allows graduates to rebuild old connections, form new professional networks, participate in events, and contribute to the university’s development.
Whether a recent graduate starting a career or an experienced professional giving back, the platform ensures that every alumnus has a space to belong and engage meaningfully.
The UGA Network App, managed by the Institutional Advancement Directorate in collaboration with the Information Technology Directorate, operates on a secure and verified alumni database that protects user information while maintaining trust and authenticity.
As the university prepares for the official launch, alumni are encouraged to register, reconnect, and re-engage with their alma mater.
