Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has stated that he will not be disappointed if the technical team chooses another goalkeeper as the team’s number one.
Asare, who is among five goalkeepers currently in Wales for Ghana’s pre-World Cup training camp, emphasized unity within the goalkeeping department. He said: “We trust each other, and it doesn’t matter who starts. Whoever is selected will have our full support because we are all focused on one goal, which is victory.”
Since making his debut in a World Cup qualifier against Chad in March 2025, Asare has started every competitive match for the national team.
He added that being first choice does not mean he would be unhappy if another goalkeeper is preferred. “What matters most is the team winning,” he said.
The Hearts of Oak shot-stopper is competing for the position with his club teammate Solomon Agbasi, Ajax youngster Paul Reverson, St. Gallen’s Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and St. Patrick’s Joseph Annan.
Ghana is set to play Wales in an international friendly in Cardiff on June 2.
