The Central Regional Police Command has apprehended a driver, Francis Ampomah, for allegedly carrying ammunition without legal authorisation.
According to the police, the suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation at the Green Field Plantation snap-checkpoint in the Central Region.

Police stated that the arrest took place around 12:30 a.m. on May 27, 2026, when the suspect was intercepted while driving a Toyota Voxy with registration number GT 9748-26 from Accra to Assin Fosu.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the discovery of 14 yellow and brown cartons filled with shotgun ammunition. Authorities said each carton contained 250 cartridges.

Francis Ampomah is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while the vehicle involved has been seized by the police.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
