Mahama arrives in London for high-level working visit
President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at deepening economic and diplomatic relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
The visit is expected to focus on attracting investment into Ghana, strengthening bilateral cooperation, and engaging the Ghanaian diaspora in the UK.
According to a statement from the Presidency, President Mahama’s itinerary includes a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The engagements are expected to reinforce the longstanding ties between Ghana and the United Kingdom.
The President was received on arrival by Lord Michael Katz of the Royal Household, Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sabah Zita Benson.
As part of the visit, President Mahama will participate in a town hall meeting with members of the Ghanaian community in the UK. The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for discussions on national development and the role of the diaspora in Ghana’s economic transformation.
President Mahama is also scheduled to officially open the Ghana-UK Investment Summit in London, where government officials, investors, and business leaders are expected to explore opportunities for trade and investment partnerships.
The President will further visit the London Stock Exchange and deliver addresses at Chatham House and the 12th Africa Debate at Guildhall, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s economic outlook and development priorities.
The working visit, which began on Saturday, May 31, will conclude on June 3.
