Economic activity along the Mampong-Ejura highway has been disrupted after the Sataso Bridge in the Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region collapsed.
The bridge gave way on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, after hours of heavy rainfall. At the time of the collapse, reconstruction work on the bridge was still underway.
This is the second time the structure has failed, sparking fresh concerns about the quality of work and the slow pace of the ongoing project.

As a vital transport link between Mampong and Ejura, the bridge plays a key role in the movement of people and goods. Its collapse has completely halted traffic on the route, impacting traders, farmers, and daily commuters who rely on it for their livelihoods.
Drivers have been compelled to take longer and potentially hazardous alternative roads, resulting in increased travel costs and delays.
Meanwhile, some residents have stepped in to help stranded commuters cross the affected section through a temporary makeshift passage.
Residents and road users are urging the government and contractors to expedite efforts to provide a lasting and reliable solution to prevent further disruptions.
