The Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations in New York has clarified that it has not yet received any official allocation of tickets for the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite increased public interest following remarks made by President John Dramani Mahama.
In a press statement dated June 9, 2026, the Mission said it has been receiving numerous enquiries from Ghanaians both in the United States and in the diaspora regarding World Cup tickets referenced by the President during a recent engagement in the United Kingdom.
It stressed that no official communication has been received from FIFA or the relevant authorities regarding Ghana’s ticket allocation for the tournament.
The Mission added that it is collaborating with authorities in Accra to obtain updates and will provide the public with further information once official details are confirmed.
According to the statement, the clarification is necessary due to growing public anticipation surrounding ticket availability and access arrangements as the tournament progresses.
