New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has appealed to party members to remain united after the constituency executive elections, stressing that the party’s progress will depend on collective commitment and cooperation.
His appeal comes as the NPP conducts constituency executive elections on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, across 385 voting centres nationwide to elect grassroots executives.
In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia wished all contestants well and commended them for stepping forward to serve the party, describing their participation as a demonstration of the NPP’s strong democratic culture.
“To all candidates in our constituency elections across the country, I extend my warmest wishes as you offer yourselves to serve our great New Patriotic Party and the people of Ghana. Your willingness to lead and contribute to the progress of our party is commendable and reflects the enduring strength of our democratic tradition,” he wrote.
He urged party members to embrace the election outcomes and remember that they remain part of one political family with a common objective of rebuilding and strengthening the NPP.
Dr Bawumia called on members to support those elected and work together with renewed commitment once the elections conclude.
“When the elections are concluded, let us rally behind those elected and work together with renewed purpose and determination,” he said.
The constituency executive elections form part of the NPP’s ongoing internal reorganisation following its defeat in the 2024 general elections, as the party seeks to strengthen its structures ahead of future elections.
However, voting is not taking place in some constituencies because of pending court cases and disputes over delegates’ electoral albums.
Dr Bawumia expressed optimism that the elections would reinforce unity within the party and better position it for the challenges ahead.
“May these elections strengthen our unity and position our party for the greater tasks ahead,” he said.
