At least eight people have been confirmed dead following a boat accident in Nigeria’s Jigawa State, while rescue teams continue searching for nine passengers who remain missing.
The incident involved a boat carrying 40 passengers, according to preliminary reports.
Rescue efforts have so far resulted in the safe recovery of 23 survivors, while the bodies of eight victims have been retrieved from the water.
Emergency responders are continuing search and rescue operations in the hope of locating the remaining missing passengers.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident, and investigations are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
