FDA closes Virgen Natural Mineral Water plant over licence breach
The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed Virgen Natural Mineral Water, a sachet water production facility located at Ashongman in the Ga East Municipality, for operating without a valid licence.
The enforcement action forms part of the FDA’s nationwide special inspection and compliance exercise targeting food production facilities, which is being conducted from July 14 to 24, 2026.
According to the Authority, the operation is intended to enhance regulatory supervision, identify unlicensed and non-compliant food establishments, and ensure that food manufacturers comply with established safety and quality standards.
The FDA has also reminded food producers and operators to secure the necessary licences and regulatory approvals before beginning operations in order to protect public health.
