Otumfuo commends IGP Yohuno and special operations team for security gains
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, says recent police operations have contributed to a noticeable improvement in security across the Ashanti Region, citing efforts to tackle crimes such as robbery, drug trafficking and human trafficking.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace during a meeting with senior police officers, the revered traditional ruler said the intensified security measures had helped strengthen public confidence and create a safer environment for residents.
He acknowledged the role played by Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno and a special police unit established to support intelligence gathering and targeted crime-fighting operations nationwide.
Otumfuo urged officers not to relent in their efforts, stressing that the fight against crime requires professionalism, discipline and a strong commitment to public service. He also advised personnel to take precautions to protect themselves while carrying out their duties.
The meeting brought together officials from the Ashanti Regional Police Command and members of the Special Operations Team, a unit created to support the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to combat organised crime and respond to emerging security threats.
Representatives of the team assured the Asantehene that operations would continue as part of broader efforts to maintain law and order, protect lives and strengthen security across the country.
