The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has rejected as false and malicious claims circulating on social media that the owner of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, allegedly a former bodyguard of GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the institution.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, GoldBod described the publication as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage confidence in the institution and its operations.
The Board categorically denied that Dominic Bonsu had ever worked as a bodyguard or personal security officer for Sammy Gyamfi.
GoldBod said any claim suggesting such a relationship is untrue and has no basis.
It also dismissed reports that it had either lost or given GH¢200 million, or any other amount, to Dominic Bonsu or his company, Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
According to GoldBod, the actual situation is that the company’s operating licence was suspended over suspected violations of its licence conditions and the GoldBod Trading Directives, pursuant to the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
The Board said investigations subsequently led to Dominic Bonsu’s arrest, after which the High Court in Accra ordered that he be remanded into lawful custody. He remains in custody as the legal proceedings continue.
GoldBod expressed concern about what it described as the deliberate spread of misinformation designed to misrepresent an ongoing enforcement process, confuse the public and undermine trust in the institution.
The Board urged the public to disregard the claims and obtain information about its activities only through GoldBod’s official communication channels.
