The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has dismissed two car park workers at the Accra International Airport following complaints that they were allegedly demanding money from passengers.
The action forms part of efforts by the airport operator to curb extortion and other forms of misconduct while improving the experience of travellers.
GACL Managing Director, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, disclosed the development on Tuesday during a visit to the airport by Parliament’s Committee on Roads and Transportation.
She said the two workers were removed after the company received several complaints from passengers and identified the individuals involved.
According to Mrs Opare, the company acted swiftly once the identities of the alleged offenders were established, resulting in their immediate removal from the airport.
She appealed to the public to assist GACL in tackling such misconduct by reporting cases of extortion or inappropriate behaviour by airport personnel.
Mrs Opare reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient and passenger-friendly environment at the airport.
The dismissal of the two workers is part of broader measures by GACL to strengthen accountability, improve service delivery and prevent practices that could undermine the experience of passengers at Ghana’s main international gateway.
