Shattafest Stampede: Airlifted 16-year-old Abraham recounts ordeal

A 16-year-old fan of Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, identified as Abraham, has spoken about the frightening experience he went through during the ShattaFest stampede that left him seriously injured.

The teenager was airlifted for medical treatment after sustaining severe injuries during the incident on August 1, 2026. His aunt described his survival as a miracle and said the family has been dealing with the aftermath of the incident.

Speaking in an interview shared on Facebook by Trouble Cale on August 3, Abraham’s aunt said the teenager attended the event because of his strong admiration for Shatta Wale.

She said Abraham has since developed worrying health complications, including coughing up blood.

Recounting the incident himself, Abraham said the situation quickly turned chaotic after he heard what sounded like an explosion, triggering panic and a rush among people in the crowd.

He said he fell during the commotion and subsequently lost consciousness.

“I went black and did not see anything else,” he recalled.

Despite the ordeal, Abraham said he was recovering, although he continued to experience pain.

He also appealed to the organisers of the event to improve their safety arrangements and prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future.

He urged them to ensure that proper measures are put in place at subsequent events, saying, “Please don’t let it happen again.”

Despite his traumatic experience, the teenager said his admiration for Shatta Wale remains unchanged and that he continues to support the artiste.

Organisers Contact Family

Abraham’s family said organisers of the ShattaFest event have since contacted them.

The family indicated that their immediate priority is ensuring that the teenager makes a full recovery.

The interview has generated widespread reactions on social media, with users expressing sympathy for Abraham while also demanding accountability from the event organisers.

One social media user claimed that people at the scene performed CPR on the teenager before paramedics arrived to take over.

Others called on the organisers to take responsibility for the medical expenses and compensation arising from the incident.

The ShattaFest stampede has renewed concerns about crowd management and safety measures at major entertainment events.
