The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled the vetting of aspirants contesting its 2026 National Officers Elections for August 31 to September 3, 2026.
The announcement comes after the close of nominations on Saturday, August 22, with 50 nomination forms purchased for the party’s nine national executive positions.
However, the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah, clarified that purchasing or collecting a nomination form does not automatically qualify an aspirant as a valid candidate.
Aspirants must submit their completed forms and all required documents during the filing period, which runs from August 23 to August 29.
The vetting schedule is as follows:
- August 31: National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer
- September 1: National Vice Chairperson
- September 2: National Organiser and National Youth Organiser
- September 3: National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser
The NOEC said individual aspirants would receive information on their specific vetting times and other administrative arrangements through the appropriate channels.
The committee also said it has not yet set a date for balloting, explaining that the filing, vetting and appeals processes must first be completed.
According to the NOEC, announcing an election date before all appeals are resolved could result in postponements or suspension if an aspirant’s eligibility remains under dispute.
The committee said it would announce a firm balloting date once the final list of eligible candidates has been established and assured aspirants that sufficient notice would be provided.
The NPP has meanwhile urged aspirants and their supporters to uphold unity, mutual respect and confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
The NOEC said it remains committed to conducting the elections in a fair, transparent and impartial manner, in line with the NPP’s constitution and relevant electoral regulations.
