Multiple fibre cuts disrupt voice, data services across Northern Ghana
Voice and data services have been disrupted across Ghana’s five northern regions and parts of the Oti Region following multiple fibre cuts along key telecommunications transmission routes.
The National Communications Authority (NCA), in a statement issued on Saturday, September 26, said three separate transmission routes had been damaged, resulting in service outages and significant deterioration in network quality in the affected areas.
The disruption has affected 2G, 3G and 4G services, with a considerable number of network sites impacted.
The affected regions are Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah and North East, as well as parts of the Oti Region.
The NCA said technical teams from the affected telecommunications operators, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), had been dispatched to the damaged routes to carry out repairs.
According to the Authority, restoration efforts are ongoing, with the teams working to restore telecommunications services as quickly as possible.
The NCA said it was closely monitoring the restoration process and coordinating with the affected operators and relevant agencies to ensure services are restored at the earliest possible time.
The Authority has apologised to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the disruption.
