The family of 28-year-old Monica Mawuse Bosso, who is suspected to have been murdered at Peace Town, a suburb of Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East Municipality, has appealed to the police to conduct a swift and comprehensive investigation into her death.
Ms Bosso was found dead on Sunday morning on her family’s compound, beneath a mango tree. A headgear was reportedly found around her neck and tied to a lower branch of the tree.
The circumstances surrounding her death have raised suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted and subsequently killed, prompting calls for a thorough investigation.
Esther Nyavor, a cousin of the deceased, said the family was deeply shocked by the incident and urged the authorities to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Preliminary investigations by the Central East Regional Police Command reportedly suggest possible rape and murder. Crime scene investigators are said to have found the deceased’s skirt and underwear torn, along with her mobile phone.
Investigators also reportedly identified indications of forced sexual penetration and collected suspected biological samples for forensic examination as they work to determine what happened.
The police are additionally investigating a suspected unauthorised withdrawal of GH¢2,000 from the deceased’s Mobile Money account around the time the incident is believed to have occurred.
Meanwhile, opinion leaders in the community have expressed concern over the incident and called for increased security measures as well as a comprehensive investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.
