The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has called on Ghanaians to make breast cancer awareness more meaningful by focusing on regular screening, early detection and support for those affected by the disease.
He said Breast Cancer Awareness Month should go beyond symbolic gestures such as wearing pink and instead encourage people to monitor their health, recognise unusual changes in their bodies and seek medical attention without delay.
Speaking at the launch of Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Mr Agbodza stressed that taking early action could significantly improve outcomes and save lives.
He noted that awareness campaigns should encourage people to undergo regular screening, seek professional medical advice when they notice changes and support individuals undergoing diagnosis and treatment.
According to him, greater efforts are also needed to address the fear, stigma and silence often associated with breast cancer.
Mr Agbodza therefore urged staff of the ministry to take breast cancer screening seriously and make early detection a priority.
