Sarah Adwoa Safo has publicly endorsed her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, recognising him as the leader of the Kantanka family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
In a statement released on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the former Dome-Kwabenya MP said her decision was driven by a desire to foster unity, reconciliation and protect the legacy of their late father, Apostle Dr Kwadwo Safo.
She said she had opted for reconciliation based on love, mutual respect and the strong bonds of family, adding that she has great love and respect for her brother.
Adwoa Safo said that, in keeping with their father’s wishes, she formally acknowledges and accepts Akofena as the Leader of the Kantanka Family and the Kristo Asafo Church.
She also expressed her willingness to collaborate with Akofena and her other siblings to pursue their father’s vision, while calling on the family to move beyond the disagreements that followed his death.
According to her, the family must now put aside the differences, misunderstandings and grievances that emerged after the passing of their father and move forward together.
The development comes after months of disputes over the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo in September 2025.
In June, the late Apostle’s family rejected Akofena’s claim to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission, maintaining that the succession arrangement established by the founder remained in force.
At the time, the family also recognised Adwoa Safo as the duly acknowledged Head of the Kwadwo Safo Family and the principal representative of the family’s interests.
Adwoa Safo has now urged members of the Kristo Asafo Church and the wider Kantanka family to support the renewed commitment to unity.
She stressed that their father’s legacy belongs to the entire family and should be regarded as a shared inheritance and responsibility entrusted to all his children.
