Traders operating along the pedestrian walkway near the 37 Military Hospital in Accra have been given a one-week deadline by a task force from the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly to vacate the area or risk being forcibly removed.
The directive is part of an exercise to clear the walkway of unauthorised trading activities and other obstructions.
As part of preparations for the clearance, members of the task force have begun marking containers and other structures belonging to traders along the affected stretch.
The traders have been instructed to remove their belongings and leave the area within the one-week period.
The exercise is intended to reclaim the pedestrian walkway and restore it for its designated purpose, while also improving the free movement of pedestrians in the area.
The task force is expected to return after the deadline to remove any traders who fail to comply with the directive.
Authorities have cautioned that structures and containers belonging to traders who remain at the site after the deadline could be removed forcibly.
