Police arrest 41 suspects in Lapaz, Chantan drug crackdown
The Ghana Police Service has arrested 41 suspects during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected criminal and drug-related activities at Lapaz and Chantan in Accra.
The operation, carried out by the Police Special Operations Team (SOT) around noon on October 15, 2026, led to the arrest of 35 men and six women.
A search of the suspects and the areas where the operation was conducted also resulted in the seizure of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances.
The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations as officers work to determine the source, ownership and intended use of the suspected drugs.
The police have indicated that further action will be taken against any suspects found culpable once investigations are concluded.
