Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has declared her intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, the former Deputy Majority Leader said the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, executives and other stakeholders, alongside personal reflection on her commitment to the constituency.
She indicated that she would formally seek the party’s nomination as its parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya once the NPP announces the timetable and guidelines for the primaries.
“After considerable reflection, extensive consultation and broad based engagement with party leadership and executives and guided by my own conviction and unwavering loyalty to the Principles and Values of our political tradition, I formally announce my intention to once again present myself for consideration as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency when the party announces the timetable and guidelines for the parliamentary primaries,” she stated.
Adwoa Safo explained that although she had previously expressed interest in pursuing opportunities outside Dome-Kwabenya, further reflection had strengthened her resolve to continue serving the constituency in Parliament.
She said representing the interests and aspirations of more than 200,000 constituents remained a significant responsibility and honour.
“Earlier, I had indicated my intention to pursue opportunities beyond the constituency. However, upon deeper reflection, I have come to appreciate, that, there is no greater honour or responsibility than serving and representing the interests and aspirations of the over two hundred thousand constituents of our beloved constituency in Parliament,” she added.
Her declaration marks a renewed bid to secure the NPP’s endorsement to represent Dome-Kwabenya, where she served as Member of Parliament for 12 years.
The former legislator said her decision was driven by her continued dedication to the people and her conviction that she had more to offer towards the constituency’s development.
She also called on party members, stakeholders and residents to engage with her as discussions continue over the leadership needed to advance the area.
Adwoa Safo said her vision was to help build a constituency where young people could fulfil their potential, families could prosper and the concerns of ordinary residents would receive the attention they deserved.
