The University of Ghana has urged students to suspend a planned demonstration after discussions with university management over their concerns, particularly accommodation challenges.
In a notice dated Wednesday, October 28, the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs said the Dean, Professor Rosina Kyerematen, had met with the organisers and assured them that management was committed to addressing students’ needs in the short, medium and long term.
Following the engagement, the organisers were advised to call off the planned protest temporarily while further discussions with university authorities and other stakeholders continue.
The university also reminded students and student groups to follow the established procedures for raising grievances in line with the regulations governing junior members of the institution.
The notice further indicated that the Office of Student Affairs was collaborating with various university departments, including the Student Financial Aid Office and the Careers and Counselling Directorate, to strengthen student welfare support and maintain a peaceful learning environment.
