The strike declared by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has commenced, bringing activities at several court premises across the country to a halt.
The Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Accra Circuit Court and some District Court offices have been locked, with security personnel preventing access to the facilities.
Checks by Citi News indicate that security officers have been directed to keep the gates closed.
Red pieces of cloth have also been tied to the entrances of some court buildings to highlight the association’s grievances and draw attention to the industrial action.
JUSAG is embarking on the strike to demand payment of outstanding revised salary arrears dating back to January 2026.
Meanwhile, Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed has appealed to the association to suspend the industrial action.
He said management had held high-level, good-faith discussions with relevant government stakeholders in an effort to resolve the outstanding issues.
