The Electoral Commission (EC) has updated the 2024 presidential election results, confirming that John Dramani Mahama remains the winner with no change to the declared outcome.
According to the EC, results from 275 of the 276 constituencies have been tallied, showing Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing 6,591,790 votes, representing 56.42% of valid votes cast. “This update reaffirms the results announced on December 9, 2024,” the EC stated.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) followed with 4,877,611 votes (41.75%). Independent candidates Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen garnered 88,944 votes (0.76%) and 32,457 votes (0.28%), respectively. Other candidates received less than 0.20% of the votes.
Out of 18,652,926 registered voters, a total of 11,683,483 valid votes were cast, with 247,937 ballots rejected. The voter turnout for the 275 constituencies was 63.97%. However, the EC noted that results from the Ablekuma North constituency, representing 121,269 registered voters, are yet to be finalized.
“This delay does not affect the outcome of the election,” the EC clarified.
Mahama’s victory was formalized with his inauguration as President on January 7, 2025, following the official declaration of results on December 9,2024.
